In the beginning....Our parent company, Intaglio Composites, was approached by the founders of Wikipedia in 2005 with an idea that for the first time in the history of the world, a link would be created between the virtual and real world. Using our engraving technology in aluminum and concrete, we could create permanent inlays with this new 2-d barcode called qrcode embedded. With the quick scan of the phone, the user would have an immediate link to a landmark. ie. a plate at the eiffel tower would immediately take you to the wikipedia reference material for the renowned landmark.
